SUPPORT FROM THE BOYS IN BLUE
On Thursday October 11th, police officers put on a fundraising event in the Wardrobe in Leeds, featuring four bands – all of whom played for free. Called "Quids for Kids". The aim was to raise funds for three charities including Martin House Children's Hospice in Boston Spa near Leeds (a charity that support children suffering from cancer ) and the Tatarai Trust. There were about three hundred people there who had a good night out and who gave generously.
Each of the charities received £615. At Tatarai, this money will pay for the vital new water pump, for the expenses of buying new tyres and a clutch to keep the Tatarai van on the road. Any left over will go into the fund for altering some buildings to make room for three new bedrooms.
The Trust was put forward as a beneficiary of this event by Tim Earnshaw, who is lead singer of one of the bands – a great local group called Loose Covers.
On behalf of everyone at Tatarai, we'd like to say a very very big thank you to all the police organisers, to all the bands, and to all the people who attended and gave so generously.
